A Bungalow-style house with nearly 54 feet of beach frontage in Malibu, California, has come onto the market for $15.995 million.

The residence, one of the earliest homes on Carbon Beach and built in 1929, has been beautifully updated with modern finishes and amenities, according to the listing with Cooper Mount of The Agency posted Thursday.

“Located on ‘Billionaire’ beach and being one of the first houses built on the beach, the builder had his pick, and this is the lot he chose,” Mr. Mount said. “This A+ Carbon Beach gem is situated on the deepest section of sand and exemplifies Malibu living.”

It has four bedrooms and three bathrooms, an open-plan living space featuring vaulted and wood-beamed ceilings, glass doors with ocean views, and a marble fireplace, according to the listing.The gourmet kitchen features a center island, granite countertops and premier stainless-steel appliances. An adjacent den with glass ceiling draws abundant natural light and views.

In total, the house encompasses 3,089 square feet of living space. The upper-level master suite has a sitting room that can be doubled as an office, a fireplace, and a terrace overlooking the ocean.

The wraparound outdoor terrace, accessible to the living space through glass doors, has a lounge area, a dining space and a built-in kitchen with barbecue. The home also comes with a two-car garage and additional space for parking.

Owner Holly H. Brooks, a writer and producer best known for her Emmy-nominated script writing for the sitcom “Taxi” (1978), bought the property for $5.1 million in 2002 via a trust, property records accessed through PropertyShark show. She was married to James L. Brooks, creator of popular TV shows including “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” and “The Simpsons” from 1978 to 1999.

Ms. Brooks, who could not be immediately reached for comment, has been renting out the home for $40,000 to $50,000 per month over the last few years, listing records show.
