Q. I live in Halifax and I'm not sure if I'll be able to pay my property tax this year with all that's going on in the economy as a result of the coronavirus. Is there any relief for me?

A. Property tax payments in Halifax, Nova Scotia, would have been due at the end of April, but payment deadlines have been extended to June 1, according to the city.

The Halifax Regional Council voted to delay payments in April. At the same time, no interest will be charged for the month of May, the council determined.

For families with a combined gross household income of C$34,000 (US$24,280), there are exemptions and deferrals available, according to the city. Payment plans are an option, as well.

Nova Scotia has reported 1,051 cases of the virus and 58 deaths.

Other Canadian cities have delayed property tax payments as well, including Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal, Mansion Global reported.
