Chatham Towers, George Shimamoto's brutalist masterpiece for
Kelly Gruzen, received a Merit Award from the American Institute of
Architects. The buildings are well known for their sculptural form and

York City postwar housing. Designed in 1959 and built between 1963 and 1965,
the buildings are well documented in texts on important New York architecture
