The three main villas are exemplars of the classic Stile Smeraldino (Emerald Coast style), designed by Michele Busiri Vici and Luigi Vietti, two of the original architects recruited by His Highness the Aga Khan to create the ultimate summer resort. A Unique Architectural Provenance
The characteristic style of the Costa Smeralda is inspired by the traditional Mediterranean style: organic and apparently spontaneous, irregular and simple shapes, with low horizontal forms hugging the landforms, with rustic accents and arches framing the views and living spaces.
Also characteristic is the use of local and natural materials: granite, terracotta, rough wood, pastel plaster with natural pigments, all anchoring the main living spaces around a central patio that opens onto the gardens and the sea.
Villa Safar, designed by Michele Busiri Vici, highlights the architect's predilection for soft, smooth lines, which are also found in Hotel Romazzino, the exclusive five-star resort with beach and spa located in the same bay and which gives its name to the area.
Each villa has a prominent waterfront setting with covered verandas, lush gardens, an outdoor pool, and guest house. In addition, there is the Busiri Vici-designed guardian's house, a detached, single-story dwelling with three bedrooms and three bathrooms, and a stand-alone storage building.
