After sitting at the helm of both Disney and DreamWorks, it makes sense that studio executive and film producer Jeffrey Katzenberg describes his Park City, Utah, home with a phrase that sounds like the title of a hit kid’s movie. He calls it "the Family Trap."

Listing agent Paul Benson said: "The idea behind the ‘family trap’ house was to build a place where you actually want to get snowed in—something warm and light and bright, but still nestled into the mountains. Every room in the house was designed to accommodate the entire family, but so that everyone can do their own thing while still being all together."

At just over 14,000 square feet, creating a sense of intimacy isn’t necessarily an easy task. It works, said Mr. Benson, because of the way the house is divided into two wings—"so that it feels like two separate homes combined." The main home is tucked away from the guest wing (which also houses the caretaker) and situated so that "if Jeffrey and his wife are visiting alone, for example, they don’t feel lost in all that square footage."

The architects and designers behind the house are a sort of dream team: on the architectural side, Park City-based Rick Otto teamed up with New York’s Charles Gwathmey, who’s got his name on several famous skyscrapers. The interior design and art (Mr. Katzenberg is an avid collector) were handled by Naomi Leff, who’s best-known for the iconic Ralph Lauren Double RL Ranche.

There are seven bedrooms, seven full bathrooms and three partial bathrooms. The house clocks in at 14,100 square feet.

Amenities

From the house, you have a kid-friendly ski-on-ski-off access via a beginner’s trail—which is rare, as ski-on-ski-off trails tend to be advanced. The house has a tremendous amount of outdoor living space—and the decks and porches are heated, too. There’s a billiard room, a game room, a ski room, an indoor pool and sauna.
