Retired Yankees pitcher Mariano Rivera is taking a "major league" price cut on his Florida lakeside vacation home.

Mr. Rivera relisted the Mediterranean-style villa in Tampa, Florida, last week for $5.99 million—a 33% reduction from the nearly $9 million he wanted for the property in 2010, according to listing records. But the home never sold and then disappeared from the market in 2011.

Mr. Rivera and his wife, Clara, bought the 1.27-acre property for $710,000 in 2004 and built a seven-bedroom, 10-bathroom home between 2007 and 2008, according to property records. This latest attempt to sell the home was first reported by realtor.com.

Their 9,250-square-foot house has amenities befitting a history-making baseball player. Mr. Rivera is the MLB record holder in saves and games finished—though he has not had an easy time closing this Florida home.

The house is located in a gated country club and overlooks Lake Sloane. Inside, there’s a library, home theater, billiard room, gym, playroom and loft area, according to the listing with Mitzi Gill of Smith & Associates Real Estate.

Mr. Rivera hired local decorator George Mazas of Mazas Design Gallery to finish the interiors and furnish the home, which includes elaborate columned entryways and a very beige and brown color palette with marble, granite and stone finishes, photos of the property show.

The upstairs has a master suite and three bedrooms with private baths, and outside, the property has a heated pool and spa, according to the listing. There’s also a security system with cameras.

The Tampa home isn’t Mr. Rivera’s main residence. He and his wife have another home outside of New York City, in Westchester County, according to property records.
