The owner of the apartment, Michela Bondardo, founder of Bondardo Communications, bought the apartment in 2014 for its prime location and short distance to the Central Park and many museums. "The apartment is a combination of country and city. It has a romantic French feel to it," Ms. Bondardo said.

However, a job offer in Italy came before she got the chance to move in. "I am sure it will be a wonderful home for people who really understand quality and beauty," Ms. Bondardo said.

The Upper East Side apartment was first listed for $4.25 million. It got a $255,000 price cut after the New Year.

"The calls have certainly increased [since the price drop]," said listing agent Janet Wilkinson at Keller Williams.
