Location: Palo Alto, California

Price: $10.988 million

To encourage time spent outdoors, this Palo Alto house has NanaWall folding glass doors between the family room and the backyard, and multiple terraces. There’s also a heated pool and spa in the backyard.

This house has "understated elegance," listing agent Samia Cullen said. "The grandeur of the entrance and the space gives it the feel of a grand property, and in the meantime, it’s not over the top."

Located in tech-heavy Silicon Valley, this house’s design allows for easy work-from-home accessibility. The master suite on the upper level features two separate offices, in addition to two walk-in closets, and a master bathroom with a steam shower, large bathtub, dual sink vanity and heated limestone floors.

There are three more bedrooms on the same level with vaulted ceilings.

San Francisco interior designer Martha Angus decorated the house, which was built in 2001.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg lives nearby, according to Ms. Cullen.

This is one of the largest houses in Palo Alto, she said, which caps above-ground square footage of single family homes at 6,000 feet, regardless of lot size.

Stats

The house has five bedrooms, five bathrooms and one half bathroom spread across 7,743 square feet and three levels. This includes a guest suite with a full bathroom and three Murphy beds on the lower level. There is also a two-car garage.

Amenities

In addition to the heated pool and spa, the backyard also features a heated patio, built-in barbecue and play structure. The lower level of the house has a fitness area and recreation room with a food prep area and parquet dance floor.

Design Pedigree

The house has high-end materials and finishes, such as a Connecticut bluestone walkway, Lemurian Blue Granite countertops in the kitchen and millwork throughout the house—including on the porch and in the stairway. A 16th century pendant lamp from Paris decorates the entryway.
