U.S. Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin has reportedly splashed out $12.6 million for a mansion in Washington, D.C.’s priciest zip code.

Mr. Mnuchin, 54, a financier and former Goldman Sachs executive turned movie producer, closed on the nine-bedroom home on Rock Creek Drive in Massachusetts Heights, according to Washington Business Journal. Property records show the home sold in late January to The Rock Creek Drive Revocable Trust for $12.585 million, two weeks before Mr. Mnuchin’s Senate confirmation.

The new digs place Mr. Mnuchin a few houses away from a fellow cabinet member, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross—who recently laid down $12 million for his Beaux-Arts home. Their leafy, mansion-filled neighborhood is in the priciest zip code in Washington, D.C., according to Forbes’ latest ranking of America’s most expensive zip codes. Though their homes dwarf the median price, of $1.557 million.

The gated, white-stucco estate sold in an off-market deal through Washington Fine Properties, according to the real estate agency’s website. Property agents Nelson Marban and Nancy Taylor Bubes were involved in the sale, and did not respond to requests for comment.

The seller is listed in records as 7K Revocable Trust.

Mr. Mnuchin’s new home has 12-and-a-half bathrooms, multiple fireplaces, an indoor pool with a dramatic skylight, a fitness room and sauna, an additional catering kitchen and a four-car garage, according to WFP’s website. The home also has a in-home theater, perfect for screening his past film productions, which range from the Lego franchise to feminist action film "Mad Max: Fury Road."

The treasury secretary is certainly no stranger to luxury living. This is one of his least expensive properties. His other homes include a seven-bedroom Southampton vacation home, which he bought for $13.78 million in 2005, property and assessment records show. He also has a two-unit spread in the posh Upper East Side co-operative 740 Park Avenue—where his neighbors include designer Vera Wang, and conservative donor and business mogul David Koch.

Mr. Mnuchin’s most lavish estate is in Bel Air, a celebrity-riddled suburb of Los Angeles. He paid more than double the price of his new Washington home for the nine-bedroom, 10-bathroom estate.

Photos of the Los Angeles property show that at one point, the father of three had a tie-dyed, inflatable bounce castle set up in his backyard. Time will tell if he’ll be installing similarly whimsical amenities at his new address.

The press office at the Treasury Department did not immediately return a request for comment.
