The creator of some of television’s biggest hits has found a new home in Los Angeles.

Shonda Rhimes, the writer and producer behind TV favorites including "Grey’s Anatomy" and "Scandal," has purchased a $4,599,500 property in the city’s historic Hancock Park neighborhood, according to a person with knowledge of the sale.

The 4,985 square-foot home, originally built in 1924, sits on about a half acre of manicured lawns. The property includes an outdoor pool and one bedroom pool house, which can be used as a guest home, according to its listing with Rodeo Realty broker Josh Flagg. Like Ms. Rhimes’s new residence, many of the homes in the affluent Hancock Park area were built during the 1920s.
