Eighty Seven Park, the first residential building in the U.S. designed by famed Italian architect Renzo Piano, is one step closer to becoming a reality. Terra, the development firm behind the project in Miami Beach’s North Beach neighborhood, and its partners, real estate companies Bizzi & Partners and New Valley, announced they have closed on a $91 million construction loan that should enable them to break ground by the second quarter of 2016. The oceanfront building located at 8701 Collins Avenue will feature 70 residences and include a two-acre private park. Units, with an average size of 3,000 square feet, will have from one to five bedrooms and range in price between $3 million and $20 million, said the developers. Buyers from the U.S. and around the world, including London, Milan and Monaco, have already secured pre-construction units, according to the developers. Residents at Eighty Seven Park will enjoy 24-hour concierge and butler service, an outdoor juice bar, a full-service salon and a full-time botanist to help them with their private balcony gardens. Units will feature outdoor living spaces with summer kitchens. The exterior space will be equal approximately 70% of each residence’s interior space. Piano and his firm, Renzo Piano Building Workshop, will be joined by project architect Stantec, headquartered in Canada, and Netherlands-based West 8. Pritzker Prize-winning Piano’s projects include the New York Times Building and the Whitney Museum in New York City and the ongoing renovation and expansion of the Harvard Art Museums in Cambridge. Paris-based Rena Dumas will take care of the project’s interiors and exterior living spaces.
