As Hollywood’s elite wait nervously to see if it’s their winning night at Sunday’s annual Golden Globes awards at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles, Mansion Global has judged them in another category—their homes.
We’ve picked a winner from nominees for best actor in a drama as well as in a comedy/musical movie; best supporting movie actor; best supporting movie actress and best feature film director.
Here are our winning picks:
BEST ACTOR: DENZEL WASHINGTON, "FENCES"
Denzel Washington might not be the favorite to win the best actor in the drama category, with Casey Affleck the frontrunner for his role in "Manchester by the Sea." He is, however, in the lead in terms of homes, thanks to his palatial Beverly Hills mansion.
The home is in the uber-exclusive celebrity-filled North Beverly Park neighborhood. According to Forbes, it’s a 30,000-square-foot estate with a guesthouse, a large pool and a sunken, illuminated tennis court. He also reportedly owns a home at 15 Central Park West in Manhattan, a luxury pre-war condominium full of celebrity owners including former Barclays boss Bob Diamond.
BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR: JEFF BRIDGES, "HELL OR HIGH WATER"
"The Big Lebowski" star Jeff Bridges, who already has an Oscar for his performance in "Crazy Heart," is certainly a winner in the housing stakes for his beautiful Montecito, California, home. However, this hasn’t helped him find a buyer for the 19.5-acre Tuscan-style estate.
He recently had to shave nearly 40% off the asking price to $18.5 million to entice prospective purchasers to take the plunge. The home boasts mountain and ocean views, a 9,500-square-foot, five-bedroom main house, a music recording studio, a small vineyard, a one-bedroom guest cottage, a two-bedroom caretaker’s cottage and a swimming pool.
BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS: NICOLE KIDMAN, "LION"
She may be in the supporting actress category this year, but Nicole Kidman is in the lead with her property portfolio. The "Lion" star, who is married to country singer Keith Urban, reportedly owns at least three homes, one in Los Angeles, another in Nashville and yet another one in New South Wales in her native Australia.
In Tinseltown, she reportedly snapped up this contemporary five-bedroom property (pictured) in a star-studded, guard-attended area near the top of Coldwater Canyon for $4.7 million in 2008. In Australia, she owns a sprawling luxury farmhouse in rural New South Wales, which she gave Vogue a tour of in 2015.
BEST DIRECTOR: TOM FORD, "NOCTURNAL ANIMALS"
The director/fashion designer, whose second movie "Nocturnal Animals" starring Amy Adams and Jake Gyllenhaal was released at the end of last year, has certainly been busy in the real estate world lately. Most recently, the 55-year-old bagged himself a bargain in the form of a glamorous Hollywood estate.
He paid $38.75 million for the Holmby Hills estate of the late Betsy Bloomingdale, an American socialite and philanthropist, scoring himself a respectable discount from the reported $55 million price tag. He has also reportedly listed his Cerro Pelon Ranch, which covers 20,000 acres in the Galisteo Basin near Santa Fe, New Mexico for $75 million.
