When it emerged on Monday that Theresa May would become prime minister today, it came as a shock to David Cameron who thought he would have around nine more weeks to sort out his post-10 Downing Street move.
As a result, it was reported that Mr. Cameron had to quickly find a place to stay in London, while his children finish off the school year before he takes his family on their annual summer vacation.
But the former prime minister’s real estate woes aren’t over. He will also need to find somewhere to rent when he returns from vacation if he is unable to get his current tenant out of his large £3.5 million ($4.6 million) family home in Notting Hill in west London in time.
He has been renting it out since he moved into the prime minister's official residence in Downing Street in 2010 and while the duration of the lease is not known, it could be fairly lengthy since Mr. Cameron indicated last year that he would like to stay on as prime minister until 2019. However, the Brexit “yes” vote changed all that and led to his resignation last month.

Here, we’ve rounded up some homes to rent in and around Mr. Cameron’s preferred neighborhood of Notting Hill. While the area was rough in the 1950s (and was the setting of infamous race riots), it has become one of the city’s most desirable areas in recent years.
Many high-profile buyers, including musician Annie Lennox, call it home. It is also a popular location for filmmakers (“Notting Hill,” starring Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant, being one of them, of course).

This five-bedroom Victorian house on a quiet tree-lined street near Holland Park in west London is certainly big enough for Mr. Cameron, his wife Samantha and their three children. There will also be a spare bedroom to boot, which could be turned into an office for work-from-home purposes, while Portobello Market is only about a 20 minute walk away.

As well as also being big enough to house Mr. Cameron’s whole family and having space for an office, this Notting Hill home comes with the option of being furnished or unfurnished. The latter could be a good option for Mr. Cameron if the size of the removal vans outside 10 Downing Street this week are anything to go by. It also has an impressive roof terrace spanning the entire footprint of the house.

While this five-bedroom home also has an option to come unfurnished, perhaps its best selling point is the fact that is has three reception rooms. This would be perfect for a former prime minister who still wants to wine and dine many of his important contacts, especially when he will be searching for his next career venture.

Price: £1,495 ($1,950) per week Bedrooms: 5
As the cheapest of all the properties, this may catch Mr. Cameron’s eye, as he must now do without his £142,500 ($55,926) prime minister's salary. It emerged recently that he and his wife took out a mortgage on their Notting Hill home just eight days before the Brexit vote, according to the Daily Mail, fueling speculation that it was done to supplement his income if he had to resign as prime minister.
