The penthouse perched at the top of 20 East End Avenue, a boutique Manhattan condominium designed by renowned architect Robert A.M. Stern, has returned to the market with a loftier price tag.
Penthouse A, the larger one of the two penthouses in the 18-floor new development is now asking $39.5 million, a $4.5 million increase from the $35 million it had since been listed in 2015. The listing was taken down in April 2017, according to listing records.
"Even though we anticipated the high-quality finishes of Penthouse A in 2015, now that it’s finished, the spectacular product really commands a higher price," said Beth Benalloul of The Corcoran Group, who is handling the listing with her colleague Scott Stewart.

The 6,050-square-foot home has five bedrooms, five full bathrooms, five bathrooms, a formal dining room, living room, family room, a library, as well as a private, 4,542-square-foot roof terrace.
"The outdoor terrace offering a dining area, a fireplace, panoramic city views, is very unique," Ms. Benalloul said.
The home features sweeping views of the East River and the Manhattan skyline, 12-foot-high ceilings, solid Appalachian oak herringbone flooring, custom moldings and four wood burning fireplaces, per the listing that was posted last Friday.

The grey limestone building boasts a slew of amenities similar to what Mr. Stern’s signature 15 Central Park West offers. They include a motor court for privacy, a library filled with books curated by Mr. Stern himself, a 24-hour concierge, a game room, as well as a fitness center with spa.
Penthouse B, the only other penthouse in the 41-unit new development, built in 2017, sold for $26.3 million in April within a couple of weeks of its listing. The asking price was $27.9 million, records on listing site StreetEasy show.
The quick sale was factored into the price increase forPenthouse A, Ms. Benalloul said.
