Location: Forest Hill, Toronto, Canada

Price: C$5.295 million (US$4.1 million)

This fully renovated and restored heritage home is in Toronto’s upscale Forest Hill neighborhood, and on one of its most exclusive streets.

"Russell Hill Road is one of the landmark streets in Forest Hill," said listing agent Allan Consky. "It is a prestigious street with a lot of very expensive homes."

"This house is surrounded by houses of value, some as high as $10 million to $12 million," he said.

"In Forest Hill, a lot of the heritage homes are gone—they’ve been torn down and replaced," he added.

Built in 1912, the three-story brick home "was completely restored in a heritage style in 2000," when the current owner bought it and spent $800,000 on the extensive renovation, Mr. Consky said. "But he didn’t update it to a modern style," he said.

"He kept all of the light fixtures, the flooring, the bathrooms with their beautiful tiles," Mr. Consky said. "The light fixtures are all antique."

"Most people gasp when they come in because you don’t see this heritage style too often," he said.

Original architectural details include wainscoting, crown moldings, oak hardwood floors, built-in nooks and window seats, bay windows, columns, and stained- and leaded-glass windows.

The kitchen appliances include a Sub-Zero refrigerator, Heartland gas oven and exhaust vent, built-in microwave
and a Bosch dishwasher. A spacious breakfast area/sunroom sits just off the kitchen and overlooks the rear garden.

Other public rooms on the main floor include a formal dining room, living room, family room, study and a gracious front foyer.

The second-floor master suite features a wood-burning fireplace in the bedroom, his-and-hers closets and a master bath with two pedestal sinks, marble flooring and a separate shower stall. A sitting room with a vaulted ceiling opens to a covered balcony.

This floor also holds the library and a second bedroom.

"This is a really great family house," Mr. Consky said. "The main floor has lots of living spaces, including a double living room."

Plus the third floor holds another living area surrounded by three bedrooms, he said. "It allows the kids to have their own lounge."

And the backyard is large and quite secluded, Mr. Consky said. "It lends itself to a pool and the design of the basement would easily lend itself to pool access."
