If you’ve watched even a little bit of U.S. home renovation channel HGTV, you’ll likely recognize Jonathan and Drew Scott, or the "Property Brothers," as they’re better known from their eponymous home renovation show. The identical twins star on that show, in addition to four spin-offs, including "Brother vs. Brother."

Jonathan, a professional contractor, takes care of construction and design, while Drew, a licensed broker, manages the selling on their shows. But the brothers have moved their empire beyond the small screen. In 2015, they launched Scott Living, a home furnishings and decor line.

And at the beginning of this year, they moved into the luxury marketplace, announcing the launch of Dream Homes by Scott Living, which invites luxury home buyers to purchase home designs created by them. Clients can shop from a portfolio and customize layouts to suit their needs, a trend that is becoming more popular.

They decided to launch the company "to showcase another passion of ours," they told Mansion Global, "creating one-of-a-kind dream homes on an epic scale."

For now, Dream Homes are only available to clients in Las Vegas, where the duo is based.

We caught up with them to talk their favorite amenities, dream homes, and about their penchant for real estate when they were just 12 years old.

Mansion Global: Describe your dream property.

Drew Scott: Your home should make your life easier, and my home has to be a retreat for me, my family and friends—home theater, fully decked-out game room and outdoor pool for water volleyball and relaxation. Being a sports enthusiast, a full-size basketball court in the basement, a personal gym with all the latest equipment and even an outdoor surf simulator would fit in perfectly.

MG: Do you have a real estate property that got away?

Jonathan Scott: The first property I can think of that got away was actually back when Drew and I were only 12 years old. Our parents were house hunting and looked at a farmhouse on a 10-acre lot, which was right next to a high-density housing neighborhood. Drew and I tried talking our parents into buying the property, since we felt it had development potential and would be rezoned soon. Our parents disagreed and went with another property. Six months later...the property they didn’t buy was rezoned for high density housing.

MG: What does luxury mean to you?

DS: Luxury doesn't just mean expensive. It is a mix of quality, function and meaning. It’s something unique that has a story that I can share with guests.

MG: What’s the most valuable amenity to have in a home right now?

DS: Smart tech. This can tie into literally any aspect of your home to make life more enjoyable.

The master closet is that forgotten space that is typically in need of an overhaul. Technology is revolutionizing what it means to have a little luxury in our closets. Software that lets you scroll through visuals of all your shoes, accessories and outfits. If you can't see it, you won't wear it! Even cameras that give you a 360 degree view of your outfits in a full length interactive mirror.

MG: Where are the best luxury homes in the world and why?

DS: That's a really hard question to answer. We've seen amazing luxury homes in many different cities. Dubai, Paris, Singapore. The key to any of the best luxury homes in the world is that they have to be one of a kind, like our Dream Homes by Scott Living. These designs are unique and we will never duplicate.

MG: What’s your favorite part of your home?

JS: I have a 15-foot outdoor movie screen off the back side of my pool. There's nothing better than soaking in the hot tub while watching movies with friends.

MG: What best describes the theme to your home and why?

JS: Staycation. We tried to implement features that would appeal to each person in our family and our group of friends so that when we're all in Vegas, we wouldn't have to leave the house to enjoy our time together.

MG: What's the most valuable thing in your home?

DS: Most valuable physical feature would be our armor and sword collection. We've been collecting since we were 10 years old.

MG: What’s your best piece of real estate advice?

JS: There is never just one perfect property for you. If you miss out on one place, there will always be another.

MG:If you had a choice of living in a new development or a prime resale property, which would you choose and why?

DS: I'd choose new development because I could customize the home right from the start, create a unique dwelling unlike any other.
