The asking price for a penthouse perched on the top floors of 50 United Nations Plaza in Manhattan was dropped to $63 million Thursday, the first price adjustment for the duplex after lingering on the market for almost two and a half years.
The trophy home, one of the first to boast a private outdoor swimming pool in Manhattan, was listed for $70 million in July 2015, when construction on the luxury tower developed by Zeckendorf Development and Global Holdings approached completion. The firms also partnered in developing 15 Central Park West and 18 Gramercy Park, two other luxury Manhattan buildings.
The price reduction of $7 million represents a 10% discount.

Spanning the 42nd and 43rd floors of the 43-story building, the penthouse has four bedrooms, seven full bathrooms and one half bathroom. The 9,700-square-foot residence also includes two staff rooms, a windowed kitchen, a 73-foot open living area overlooking the East River and iconic Manhattan landmarks, according to the listing by the Zeckendorf marketing team.
"There have recently been a number of notable transactions in the Manhattan luxury residential market, and we are confident that this one-of-a-kind duplex residence at 50 United Nations Plaza will attract buyer attention at this new price point," a spokesman for the building told Mansion Global regarding the price cut.

There are two outdoor terraces, one of which extends from the main living area, the other features a 30-foot outdoor swimming pool, wood deck, an entertainment lounge with a gas fireplace and catering kitchen.
Future owners of the penthouse can also enjoy the 75-foot indoor swimming pool in the the black marble-clad health and fitness center. Other amenities in the Foster + Partners-designed building include a full-time staff of doormen, concierge and resident manager; a state-of-the-art gym; spa; sauna; steam rooms; wine cellars as well as a private motor court.
Located across the street from the United Nations headquarters, the 88-unit tower is home to many business executives and foreign luminaries, including, property records show, high-level diplomats from Qatar and New Zealand.
