A pair of penthouses in Baltimore Tower, a spherical apartment building on the Isle of Dogs in East London, hit the market last week for almost £4 million (US$5.25 million) apiece.

Occupying the 44th and 45th floors, the penthouses are the largest and most expensive units in the building. Each spans 2,622 square feet and has three bedrooms, three bathrooms, an additional study or fourth bedroom and a terrace, according to a news release.

Located close to Canary Wharf, one of the main financial centers in the U.K., the 450-foot-tall tower was designed by Skidmore Owings & Merrill, the architectural and planning firm behind Dubai’s Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest tower. The penthouses have panoramic views over the River Thames and the entirety of London.

The more expensive of the two penthouses, priced at £3.95 million (US$5.18 million), was staged by interior designer Nicola Fontanella and her team at Argent Design, who drew inspiration from the home’s city views.

"We have used a lot of natural finishes and water-like colors in the apartment," Ms. Fontanella said in the release. "There is an overwhelming sense of volume and space that you get when entering the penthouse and it was important to us not to diminish this."

The second penthouse, priced at £3.85 million (US$5.05 million), is not staged.

Of the tower’s 373 apartments, only four remain, including the two duplex penthouses.

"The building has sold incredibly well and it’s great to finally see it come to life as a new destination and landmark building on London’s skyline," said David Galman, director of sales, at developer Galliard Homes, in the release.

"The docklands remain a popular choice for buyers and the penthouses here offer one of the best views of London I have ever seen," he said.
