An oceanfront contemporary home known as Casa Higuera is the one of the only fully turnkey custom homes currently available at the new Maravilla Los Cabos residential resort in Mexico. And priced at $14 million, it’s also one of the most expensive of the planned 230 homes.

"It’s furnished, complete, turnkey, ready to go," said Neil Johnson, director of residential real estate for Ohana Real Estate Investors, the developer. "The forks and knives are in the drawer, and water is in the pool."

Ohana is the owner-developer of Twin Dolphin, a planned residential community in Los Cabos, Mexico, that will include the 260-acre Maravilla Los Cabos as well as the new 39-acre Montage Residences Los Cabos that is expected to open early next year.

The community spans both Las Viudas Beach and the renowned Santa Maria Bay, encompassing two of the few year-round, swimmable beaches in Cabo.

Three years after suffering major devastation from Hurricane Odile, the luxury resort market on the southern tip of Mexico’s Baja California Peninsula has come back to life.

For now, Casa Higuera is serving as a model unit of sorts for would-be homebuyers at Maravilla.

"We built it to give people an idea of what the finished product would look like," Mr. Johnson said. "It’s been extremely well received. We’ve had a few offers on it."

The interiors of the house were designed by Mexico City-based designer Lorena Vieyra of Vieyra Arquitectos, with a goal to maximize unobstructed views of the Sea of Cortez and highlight the natural beauty of the surrounding land. The open floor plan integrates the large indoor and outdoor living spaces, with the living area leading out onto a covered terrace made for entertaining.

"As you walk in the front door, you’ve got direct views out to the ocean," Mr. Johnson said.

Past the private courtyard and front door, you have access to four bedroom suites via floating walkways suspended over an expansive water feature, with an open view extending through the living space to the ocean.

"When people walk through it, they’re taken aback," Mr. Johnson said.

There is a full outdoor kitchen as well as a fire pit, barbecue and Kalamazoo pizza oven.The private infinity pool features a floating dining area.

The indoor kitchen has Sub-Zero, Miele and Wolf appliances. The large master bedroom offers a private terrace, ocean views and an outdoor shower.

The lower level (basement) features a family room equipped with an 85-inch flat-screen TV, shuffleboard, and pool table as well as a walk-in 180-bottle wine cellar.

"It’s definitely an entertaining home, but it’s also a family home as well," Mr. Johnson said.

As far as overall construction and development at Maravilla, "we’re approaching one-third complete," he said.

Of the 230 residences within Maravilla, 50 are single-family homes, and 180 are homes built by the developer. These include condos, townhomes and casitas

"We’ve already built 90% of the amenities—they’re ready to go," Mr. Johnson said. For the remaining 10%, the developer is waiting to hear from buyers about other amenities they want.

The stats

The 4,059-square-foot home has five bedrooms, six full bathrooms and one partial bath. The property also includes 4,908 square feet of outdoor space and a 951-square-foot private garage with room for two large vehicles, a golf cart and ample storage.

Amenities

Amenities at Maravilla are exclusive to residents via the private club that features a 60,000-square-foot clubhouse with multiple dining options, along with a variety of pools, including a three-level infinity pool with water slide, lap pool, hot and cold plunge pools, and Jacuzzi. There is also a full-service spa, fitness center and outdoor fitness palapa, two-story climbing wall and lawn sports courts.

Kid-friendly amenities include an outdoor amphitheater, indoor theater, arts and crafts center, and an activity center with an indoor-outdoor games area. An 18-hole putting course and miles of groomed desert hiking and biking trails offer more outdoor activities.

Maravilla homeowners also have the opportunity to enjoy amenities at Montage Los Cabos and access to the Twin Dolphin Golf Club and the Fred Couples Signature golf course coming in late 2018.

Neighborhood notes

Maravilla Los Cabos sits between the resort cities of Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo, and it’s a short drive to either community. Cabo San Lucas is known for its restaurants and lively nightlife.
