The most expensive home for sale in Minnesota, set on the shores of scenic Lake Minnetonka, hit the market for $15.795 million last week.

The house is massive, with 18,007 square feet of interior space, five bedrooms, seven full bathrooms and two partial acres. It sits on a 1.8-acre parcel with 195 feet of lakeshore waterfront.

The list of amenities is also quite extensive, starting with a sports court, full gym, golf simulator, swimming pool, bowling alley, home theater and a basement music club.

"It’s such a stunning house," said co-listing agent Julie Regan, with Jeff Hornig, of Lakes Sotheby's International Realty.

"It’s a special spot on Lake Minnetonka with incredible views and unbelievable sunsets."

Lake Minnetonka is about 15 miles southwest of Minneapolis and is popular with boaters, sailors and fishermen. There are also lots of bars and restaurants around the 14,528-acre lake.

"It’s one of the most affluent residential areas of Minnesota," Ms. Regan said. As such, this is the priciest property currently for sale in the state, according to the Multiple Listing Service.

"Here you have a lifestyle property, yet you’re so close to the airport and the downtown," she said.

The house was built in 2012 by custom builder John Kraemer & Sons for the current owner, a local businessman.

The great room features a two-story wall of windows, and the entryway is also two stories, with inlaid wood flooring. The formal dining room seats 18.

There is a large chef’s kitchen as well as an additional prep kitchen and butler’s pantry. Other rooms on the main level include a sunroom and an office with a double desk and sitting area with a fireplace.

The lower level holds a temperature-controlled stone wine cellar, sauna, full bar, sports court with a scoreboard, and the movie theater, which boasts a lighted onyx bar, 3D-ready projector and D-Box motion chairs. Both the music club and the bowling alley feature color kinetic lighting, and gym has a separate locker room.

The Cavern Music Club has a stage and state-of-the-art sound system.

"The owner is very much into music," Ms. Regan said. "He has people come in and entertain, and it’s a fun spot to hang out."

The master suite on the upper level features a sitting area and fireplace, private balcony, his-and-hers closets, laundry, and a luxurious full bath with a hot tub and separate shower.

A stairway from this level leads to a rooftop sky deck.

"The sunsets up there are incredible—and the 4th of July fireworks are spectacular," Ms. Regan said.
