Three of the ‘World’s Most Liveable Cities’ Are in Canada The Economist Intelligence Unit has released its latest index of the world’s most liveable cities, and Calgary, Vancouver, and Toronto in Canada all made the list. Vienna, Austria, took the top spot, bumping Melbourne, Australia, to second place after a seven-year run as number one. Osaka and Tokyo, Japan; Sydney, Australia; Copenhagen, Denmark; and Adelaide, Australia, also made the top 10. BNN
Canadian Home Prices Increased Marginally in July Canadian home prices rose 0.8% month-to-month between June and July, according to the Teranet-National Bank Composite House Price Index. Annually, prices were up 1.8% in July, the smallest yearly increase since 2013. When seasonally adjusted, the index has declined for four consecutive months, and in their report, Teranet said, "This means that the recent monthly rises in the published index reflected only seasonal pressures instead of an underlying trend." Musician Brian Kelley Lists Nashville Home for $6.4 Million Country musician Brian Kelley has put his 70-acre property in Nashville, Tennessee, on the market for $6.4 million. The compound includes 30 acres of untouched land with hiking and riding trails, and six structures, including a custom treehouse connected to the main house by a 30-foot bridge, as well as two guest houses, a saloon, and a barn. Nevada Had the Fastest-Rising Prices in the U.S. in June Home prices in Nevada grew 12.6% year-over-year in June, according to CoreLogic, making it the fastest-growing market in the U.S., and unseating Washington state after its year-and-a-half-long run in the top spot. In Washington, prices grew 12.1% in June, compared to 12.8% in May. In Seattle, Washington, as well as other metro areas in the state, price growth actually slowed by at least 1% between May and June. Seattle Times
Chinese New Home Prices Rose at Fastest Pace in Two Years in July New home prices in Chinese cities continue to rise at a breakneck pace and increased 12.1% month-to-month in July, their highest rate of growth in 22 months. Data from the National Bureau of Statistics showed price increases in 65 out of 70 cities surveyed, in spite of ongoing government efforts to curb out-of-control markets. Shanghai was the only first-tier city not to post price growth, and the largest increase was in Sanya in Hainan Island, where prices rose by 3.7%. South China Morning Post
