Vancouver Home Sales Jumped 22.3% in August August sales prices in Vancouver increased 9.4% from the previous year, while residential sales transactions were up 22.3%, according to numbers from the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver. Sales increased across the board for detached homes, apartments, and townhomes, with the largest price increase—19.4%—taking place in the apartment market. BNN

Chicago-Area Mansion Sells for Less Than 1995 Price A large French Renaissance-style estate in Lake Forest, Illinois, has sold for $2.68 million, a smidge less than the $2.73 million its sellers paid for it in 1995. The house, which was built in 1916 and was once owned by the architect behind the Michigan Avenue Bridge and Buckingham Fountain in Chicago, was put on the market for $4.25 million in April 2015. Dubai Development to Price Its Properties in Bitcoin A residential and commercial development underway in Dubai will be the first major real estate development to accept digital currency bitcoin as payment for its apartments. Aston Plaza and Residences, which will have two residential towers and a shopping mall, is set to be completed by late 2019. Studio apartments will start at 33 bitcoin (US$155,000), one-bedrooms will go for about 54 (US$250,000),  and two-bedrooms for 80 (US$370,000). Bitcoin hit a record high of $4,870 on Friday, spiking more than 400% so far in 2017. Reuters

Yogi Berra’s One-Time New Jersey Home Sells After three months on the market and one price cut, a Tudor-style home in Montclair, New Jersey, that once belonged to Yankees baseball legend Yogi Berra has entered into contract. The sale hasn’t closed yet, so it’s not clear what the final price was, but the 6,800-square-foot mansion was last listed for $2.795 million. In May, when the late Hall of Famer’s house was put up for sale, it had an asking price of $3.199 million. Montclair Local
