A Manhattan socialite’s colossal duplex once dubbed a "chateau in the sky" has sold.

The buyer and final closing price have yet to appear in New York City public property records, but the owner, Sheila Rosenblum, a successful horse racer and ex-wife to commodities exec Daniel Rosenblum, was asking $35 million for the two-floor spread at 515 Park Avenue.

This megamansion beat the odds in Manhattan’s market, where homes of this price have struggled to sell in comparison to their more affordable peers in the $4 million to $6 million range. The duplex hit the market in February and went into contract less than two months later without a price cut, listing records show.

The 5,000-square-foot home is on the 36th and 37th floors of an exclusive limestone condominium at the corner of Park Avenue and East 60th Street. The location offers bird’s eye views of Central Park and the surrounding city, according to the listing with Pamela Nichols of Douglas Elliman. Ms. Nichols declined to comment for this article.

The new owner will get 11-foot ceilings, a private elevator and a large corner living room with a wood-burning fireplace.

The home also has a library and chef-grade kitchen. A sweeping staircase leads to the bedrooms on the second floor, including a master bedroom with his and hers walk-in closets and an onyx-clad master bath.

The apartment comes with a clever way to deal with visiting in-laws: a separate, 635-square-foot guest apartment. There’s also an additional storage room and wine cellar.

Ms. Rosenblum and her ex bought the sprawling unit when the building was completed in 2000 for an undisclosed amount, according to property records. The couple briefly listed the home for $31 million in 2011.

Mr. Rosenblum eventually transferred the lavish duplex to his wife in 2013 for just $3.5 million, property records show.
