The property includes a 7-acre vineyard

Save

Location:  St. Helena, Calif.

Price:  $18.5 million This Tuscan-style home sits on nearly 40 acres in California’s Napa Valley. The property includes a 7-acre vineyard, which has produced wines scoring 91-95 points from wine critic Robert Parker for four consecutive years, according to the owners. “The estate is very consistent in what it produces,” said vintner Perry Butler, who owns the property with his wife, Carolyn. The Butlers sold their technology firm in 1997 and purchased the property the same year. Perry now operates the winery, Juslyn Vineyards, which is named after Carolyn and their daughter Justine. Carolyn owns a high-end shoe retailer called Footcandy, in addition to a spin- and yoga-centric fitness studio. The Butlers designed the house with an architect. With 9,600 square feet of interior space, the home has five bedrooms, four full bathrooms and one partial bathroom. It has a gym, a library and views of the Napa Valley from nearly every room, according to the listing. There is also a one-bedroom guesthouse. “This house lends very well to entertaining,” said Carolyn. The dining room seats 40. An additional 150 guests can be seated around the 80-foot-long swimming pool. An outdoor kitchen includes a full bar, a pizza oven and a built-in barbecue. Gardens surrounding the home include olive groves, waterfalls and a koi pond. A helipad on the property is about a five-minute walk from the main house. The Butlers are selling the estate because they’ve purchased a smaller parcel of land where they intend to downsize.
