At $26.9 million, the late Tony Scott’s opulent Beverly Hills home might seem like a large amount of money to most, but it’s actually much less that it used to be.

The latest listing price is more than $15 million lower than the original asking price when the home, known as Bella Vista, first appeared on the market in 2015, three years after the "Top Gun" director’s death.

However, part of the reason for the drastic price reduction is because it’s no longer being sold with four empty lots of land that are separate from the main compound, according to co-listing agent Enzo Ricciardelli of Sotheby’s International Realty.

Scott is not the only famous name to have lived in the house.

According to the listing, it was built in the late 1920s by John Byers for King Vidor, a director whose movies include "Duel in the Sun," starring Gregory Peck and was later sold to silver screen legend John Barrymore.

The Mediterranean-style estate, set on 1.3 acres of land, includes a 6,976-square-foot, three-bedroom main house, a pool with cabana, meandering paths, koi ponds, an outdoor fireplace, and fountains that lead to a one-bedroom bungalow and two-story guest cottage.

Interestingly, the listing notes that there is an opium den above the master bedroom in the main house. Mr. Ricciardelli told Mansion Global that there is a steep staircase and hidden door which leads to the room. While he has anecdotal evidence that this dates to Barrymore’s time at the house, Mr. Ricciardelli said there’s no proof it was created for the actor.
