Crooner John Legend and supermodel Chrissy Teigen have upgraded their Manhattan digs.

Mr. Legend, who used to own a one-bedroom unit at the Brewster Carriage House in Nolita, has purchased a well-appointed penthouse atop the same six-story brick condominium, paying a little more than $9 million, according to city property records filed Monday afternoon.

Their new apartment has three bedrooms, two of which are billed as master bedrooms, plus a 2,000-square-foot landscaped private roof garden, according to the listing with Lisa Interdonato, Raymond Dillulio, Fredrik Eklund and John Gomes, all of Douglas Elliman. Another Douglas Elliman agent, Jason Walker, reportedly gave the couple a tour through the unit in December. The brokerage declined to comment.

Developers converted the carriage factory building from in the 1850s into modern luxury homes with sweeping ceiling heights, exposed brick and open floor plans in 2015.

The penthouse that now belongs to the "All of Me" singer, 39, and Ms. Teigen, 32, also comes with a 133-inch motorized projection screen and wine closet.

Mr. Legend previously owned a one-bedroom unit on the building’s second floor, which he sold in 2016 for $3.9 million, according to property records. These days, the couple’s main address has been on the West Coast, where they live in a contemporary Beverly Hills mansion they bought from singer Rihanna.

Ms. Teigen—whose frank, humorous tweets about her personal life have made the model a darling of Twitter—often posts to social media images and videos of her family in their luxurious Los Angeles home and recently revealed the name of their newborn son, Miles Theodore.

A rep for the couple did not immediately return a request for comment.
