Investor Bruce Karsh has purchased the lavish Los Angeles estate of late Paramount Pictures chairman and chief executive Brad Grey for $68.82 million, according to property records.
The 2.2-acre compound designed by architect Howard Backen as a sleek interpretation of a modern farmhouse was completed in 2016, only a year before Mr. Grey died of cancer at age 59 in May 2017.

Its new owner, Mr. Karsh, is the co-chairman and chief investment officer of Los Angeles-based private equity firm Oaktree Capital Management. He is worth around $2 billion, according to Forbes.
A limited liability company linked to Mr. Karsh closed on the home on May 3, only three months after the home was first listed for $77.5 million, property records show.
Grey, who built the home with his wife, Cassandra Huysentruyt Grey, bought the underlying property in the posh neighborhood of Holmby Hills through a trust in 2010 for $18.5 million, according to property records, and set to work building a lavish home.
The five-bedroom home is clad in patinated wood and filled with oversized leaded windows and doors, some of them automated, images of the home show. It wraps like a horseshoe around a central courtyard with a pool and hot tub, according to the listing with Stephen Shapiro of Westside Estate Agency and Linda May of Hilton & Hyland.

In addition to vast, airy living spaces, including a barn-inspired great room, the Greys incorporated a laundry list of modern conveniences and in some cases added two of them. There are two kitchens, for instance. An outbuilding accessible by bridge houses a recreational facility with twin gyms.
There’s also a pilates studio, indoor plunge pool, steam room and sauna.
The courtyard encompasses a large covered outdoor dining area and an automated wall in the family room drops down to reveal a theater-sized screen.
