A Naples, Florida, mansion built for golf pro Rocco Mediate is going up for auction later this month.
Mr. Mediate, a champion who famously lost to Tiger Woodson a sudden death hole during the 2008 U.S. Open, bought theproperty overlooking the 15th hole at Talis Park golfclubin 2004 for $3.2 million, according to county records. He built a two-story, Tuscan-style mansion and lived there for nearly a decade. It will go to auction without reserve on May 19 at 11 a.m.

The bidding will take place at the 7,167-square-foot home, which spans six bedrooms and eight bathrooms, according to Elite Auctions, which will handle the sale.
The lavish home sits on a corner lot overlooking the fairway. Apond at the edge of the property gives the home some privacy from the golf course, said a spokesman for Elite Auctions.
"I was told (Mr. Mediate) chose the lot because it’s one of the best at Talis Park,"the spokesman said.
The front door opens into a dramatic double-height living room with three arched windows overlooking the home’s pool and the golf course green beyond, photos of the home show. From the grand living room, the open-floor plan flows into a more casual family room, kitchen and dining room.
The mansionhas two master suites, one on each floor. The one on the first floor opens out onto the backyard patio, which is currently blooming with hibiscus plants, the spokesman said.
Mr. Mediate, 55, a three-time PGA tour champion, lost the home to the bank in 2014, according to property records. It was during a period of financial woesthat he discussed during an interview on the Golf Channel in 2013.
"The house in Naples went bye-bye. Bank stuff happened there. It was a whole nightmare," Mr. Mediate told interviewer David Feherty.

SunTrust Bank later sold the home to its current owner for $2 million, property records show.
The owners have made small aesthetic changes and upkeep. They’ve updated the air conditioning and added hardwood floors.
The owners have been trying to sell the home on and off over the past two years, listing records show. The most recent asking price was $3.2 million.
