Like so many other parts of our busy lives these days, our at-home spas and wellness centers have been taken over—in a good way—by smart-home technology.

"People love the idea of controlling your pool and spa and even your sauna from your phone," says Zach Goldsmith, an agent with Hilton & Hyland/Christie’s International Real Estate in Los Angeles. The added convenience is irresistible, Mr. Goldsmith says: "I was driving home the other day and set my Jacuzzi to 104 degrees [fahrenheit] with my phone, knowing I’d be home in 30 minutes. When I got there, it was already on—I just had to turn on the bubbles." Luxurious home spas allow people to get the same kind of pampering they have become used to when they travel. "The most popular item is the dry sauna, and that is being replaced by the infrared sauna," says Santiago Arana, a top agent with The Agency in Los Angeles. Infrared saunas use infrared heaters instead of traditional heat sources to quickly raise the temperature of the sauna. "That is the hottest thing right now," he says. More:High-Tech Grills Make for a Superior Summer Steam rooms are also very popular, he adds, "and some of them can release different scents, so you can have the smell of different flowers in the steam." People are also adding  ice-cold plunge pools for a bracing, healthy finish after hot yoga or an infrared sauna. "You stay in the cold plunge as long as you can, for hot-and-cold therapy," Mr. Arana says.  Below are five products that offer the latest in both technology and relaxation.
