Wayne Gretzky has flipped another home at the Sherwood Country Club in Thousands Oaks, California—this one for $3.4 million.

The Canadian hockey legend, nicknamed "The Great One," scored only $100,000 off this particular real estate endeavor, according to property records—as he ditched the project before making any home improvements.

Mr. Gretzky, 56, bought the house in January for $3.3 million, around the same time that he sold another estate in the Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course community for $6 million. But the NHL star changed his mind about the project and immediately relisted the home without any aesthetic changes, said listing agent Nicole Van Parys of Engel & Völkers.

It’s too bad the home didn’t get an upgrade since the athlete and his wife, actress Janet Jones, have shown a flair for contemporary interior design. A home the two sold earlier this year paired traditional interior details—like coffered ceilings and chandeliers—with modern colors like charcoal black and eclectic furnishings.

By contrast, this latest flip is the same house that sold to the owner before Mr. Gretzky in 2013, with dated carpet runners, overlong drapes and walls painted in muted neutrals.

But the home offers plenty of space for transformation—at over 5,000 square feet with four bedrooms and five bathrooms. The foyer has soaring cathedral ceilings, and an open floor plan includes a large living room, dining room and kitchen with two islands and bar, according to the listing.

Outside, the landscaped patio, pool and spa have vistas over the golf course and surrounding mountains.

It’s not the last the country club will see of Mr. Gretzky, however. He owns a third property at Sherwood that he’s currently working on, the listing agent said.

A publicist for Mr. Gretzky did not immediately return a request for comment.
