A Long Island house, originally designed for financier and philanthropist Percy Rivington Pyne II in the 1930s, is coming to the market early next week, with an asking price of $5.85 million, listing agent Jason Friedman of the Friedman Team at Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage told Mansion Global.

The 15,390-square-foot Georgian Revival house sits on approximately four acres of land with gardens, a parcel of the 90-acre farmland Mr. Pyne bought in 1926 in Roslyn Harbor, Long Island. The rest of his property was subdivided for suburban development in 1945, according to Mr. Friedman.

Mr. Pyne’s grandfather was Moses Taylor, director and president of City Bank of New York, which later became Citibank, and had a controlling interest in Consolidated Gas Co., now known as ConEd. His mother was a direct descendant of Richard Stockton, signer of the Declaration of Independence.

Built in the early 1930s, the house was designed by Cross & Cross, the architecture firm behind many landmark buildings, including the General Electric Building in New York, Tiffany & Co. Building on Fifth Avenue, and the Yale School of Music.

The three-story residence boasts eight bedrooms, 11 full- and two half-bathrooms and a spacious staff wing. Next to the foyer, there are his and hers parlors. The formal living room is almost the size of a ballroom. Soaring ceilings and marble finishes are featured throughout the house.

Although it has been renovated and upgraded, much of the original style and details have remained intact. There are several fireplaces, old-school fridges and even an old picture of Mr. Pyne hanging on the wall.

"It is impressive how the current owners kept the integrity of the house," said Mr. Friedman.

The current owners, who Mr. Friedman declined to name, have lived in the house for the past 30 years.

Roslyn Harbor is a small town nestled in Oyster Bay. The property is about one mile from the waterfront.
