British singer and songwriter Harry Styles, who shot to fame with pop boy band One Direction, has purchased an apartment in a Tribeca building where a number of celebrities already call home.
Although public records show that the 2,868-square-foot, three-bedroom apartment at 443 Greenwich was sold for $8.71 million nine months ago, reports just surfaced that Mr. Styles, who is now going solo and picking up acting (he debuts in the war film Dunkirk in July 2017), is behind the trust buying the property. The purchaser, Hxnyc Trust, lists as its trustee, Emma Spring, the same name as Mr. Styles’ personal assistant.
A rep for Mr. Styles, 23, declined to confirm whether he is the buyer. Jared Seligman of Douglas Elliman, who was listed as the buyer’s agent, didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
The property was first listed in September 2014 for $8.35 million and remained on the market for the same asking price until July 2016, when Mr. Styles paid 4.3% above the listing price.
Richard Cantor at Cantor-Pecorella, the broker and marketing agent for 443 Greenwich, also declined to comment on the transaction, only pointing out that the building has attracted a number of high-profile buyers.
