While waiting for a house to be built most people would rent a temporary one, but not Gordon Ramsay.

The "Kitchen Nightmares" and "Hell’s Kitchen" star chef has just picked up another country home in picturesque Cornwall on the south coast of England for £4 million (US$4.9 million), according to property records.

Mr. Ramsay’s new house is a six-bedroom spread with an outdoor heated pool and tennis court next to the sea in the village of Trebetherick, which is nestled between Polzeath and Rock (a favorite vacation destination of the Royals) in North Cornwall, according to the listing.

The stone house has a white wooden front door and a drawing room and dining room with French doors that open onto the terrace. Other features include a sun room, a master suite with a  balcony overlooking the large gardens surrounding the property, and a pool house.

According to the Daily Mail, who first reported his new purchase, Mr. Ramsay, 50, and his wife, Tana Ramsay, bought the property as a stop gap while they wait for their other home to be completed.

They picked up another 1920s property for £4.4 million in nearby Rock around two years ago, but angered some neighbors with their plans to tear it down and replace it with a new mansion and a separate seafront annex. The latter was the one that caused the issue.

Local authorities, however, gave the couple, who have four children, the green light during the summer to carry out their plans, which are now underway.

"The family loves spending time in Cornwall. While the Rock property is under long-term renovation we wanted to call somewhere else home," Mr. Ramsay told the Daily Mail.
