A full-floor penthouse at Walker Tower, an iconic Art Deco building in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood, has found a buyer for $31 million.

The sale price is $11 million less than its highest asking price of $42 million and slightly below what the seller paid for it four years ago.

The 7,000-square-foot residence, a combination of two apartments on the same floor, has been on and off the market for the past couple of years, listing records show.

It first hit the market for $39.995 million in the summer of 2016. The price was raised to $42 million in February 2017 after a major makeover. The listing price was cut down to $34.9 million before it finally found a buyer, according to property records filed last week.

The buyer remained anonymous under the umbrella of a limited liability company, whose attorney didn’t immediately respond a call seeking comment.

The seller, whose identity is also shielded by a limited liability company carrying the physical address of the property, bought the two penthouses for $31.31 million in May 2014.

Combined, the residence has 6,978 square feet of livable space, including four bedrooms, five bathrooms, a 45-foot-long great room with Venetian plaster walls, an Italian marble wood-burning fireplace, and a full-service wet bar, a formal dining room, a media room and a library with another wood-burning fireplace.

The home also has two private terraces, with views of the Hudson River and city skyline, according to the previous listing with Toni Haber and Kyle W. Blackmon of Compass.

The agents declined to comment.

Walker Tower was designed in 1929 in Art Deco style by the renowned architect Ralph Thomas Walker. In 2012, the 22-story building was converted into a 47-residence luxury condominium by JDS Development and Property Markets Group.

Building amenities include a 24-hour doorman and a private concierge, a roof deck with dining area, a fully equipped fitness center with yoga room, sauna and steam room, children's playroom and a library lounge with a bar.

The top-floor penthouse in the building, which closed for $50.9 million in 2014, retains the title as the most expensive home in downtown Manhattan. The penthouse is currently on the market for $45 million.
