Fashion executive Craig Leavitt, most recently the CEO of Kate Spade,  listed his fashion-forward Tribeca apartment for $6.395 million on Thursday.

The third floor unit on Laight Street is in a former early 20th-century warehouse that was transformed by architect Morris Adjmi into what is now known as The Sterling Mason. Mr. Leavitt’s apartment is the first three-bedroom resale to come onto the market in the building, which was redeveloped in 2015.

The 2,409-square-foot condominium has three bedrooms, three full baths, and one powder room, as well as a Juliet balcony and new eat-in kitchen.

Mr. Leavitt, 56, put in a number of upgrades to the property, including a television in the living room that’s hidden beneath a movable painting and another TV that rises hydraulically in the dining room, according to the listing. The furniture can be included for an extra price.

According to PropertyShark and media reports, Mr. Leavitt purchased the property in 2015 for $5.2 million, after selling a loft in the celeb-filled Chelsea Mercantile on Seventh Avenue.

He bought the apartment in pre-construction and made many significant upgrades and special appointments beyond what the developer planned to do.

Those upgrades include California closet systems throughout, custom millwork, a sophisticated lighting system, motorized window treatments, speakers throughout, and a smart home system controlled both at wall panels and by the touch of a phone.

"They also added tons of lighting that the developer would not have included," said listing agent Linda Feder of Corcoran.

Mr. Leavitt stepped down from Kate Spade on Aug. 4, after being its CEO for three-and-a-half years. The move was announced by Coach, which bought Kate Spade in May. It is not clear where Mr. Leavitt is headed next.

The apartment faces north and east, with good views of a private Deborah Nevins garden that’s in the interior of the building. It offers the combination and flexibility of an open-plan loft with the sophistication of a classic prewar Manhattan apartment.

"What’s great about the apartment is that it’s kind of open and like a loft, yet it still has a foyer with a powder room where it should be and a wing for the bedrooms," Ms. Feder said.

Architectural and design details include floor-to-ceiling French doors in two of the bedrooms, leather panel walls in the foyer, custom pocket doors by Henrybuilt, wide plank oak floors, an abundance of closets and multi-zoned central air conditioning, according to the listing.

The chef's kitchen features custom walnut cabinetry and millwork by Henrybuilt, honed Imperial Danby marble countertops, and appliances by Sub-Zero, Miele and Wolf.

"The kitchen is drop-dead gorgeous and they never used it," Ms. Feder said. "The oven literally has never been used."

The master suite overlooks the Nevins garden and enjoys the peaceful sounds of a meditative water feature in the garden.  "It’s really quiet and serene—you don’t even feel like you’re in Manhattan," Ms. Feder said.

The master suite’s marble bathroom features double vanity sinks, a glass-enclosed Bianco Dolomiti marble stall shower, a LeFroy Brooks free-standing soaking tub, herringbone radiant heated tile floors and nickel fixtures, according to the listing.  Monthly maintenance and common charges for the apartment are $3,853, according to the listing.

The Sterling Mason has 33 apartments, and services include a full-time doorman, concierge and resident manager.

Building amenities include a fitness center, a club-like library, bike storage, playroom and a personal storage room also outfitted with custom shelving.
