A trophy penthouse at 15 Central Park West that’s owned by Bob Diamond, former CEO of Barclays PLC, found a buyer in five months.

The listing by Douglas Elliman showed it’s "sold and closed" for $50.55 million, a 14% discount from the listing price of $59 million. The listing was "no longer available" on StreetEasy as of Wednesday.

The sale has yet to appear in the city registry, and the buyer couldn’t be identified. Listing agent Matthew Mackay declined to comment.

When the penthouse came onto the market last December, it didn’t specify the exact apartment number, merely stating it’s a penthouse, but the dimensions and description matched the home of former Barclays CEO Bob Diamond.

The 5,300-square-foot residence includes four bedrooms, five full bathrooms and one half bathroom. In addition, the penthouse features a 34-foot entry gallery, a library and a chef's eat-in-kitchen with 13-foot ceilings in most rooms.

"The views are truly transcendent with unobstructed east, west and north views of the Manhattan skyline, Central Park, sunsets over the Hudson River, Lincoln Center and north to the George Washington Bridge," the listing stated.

That’s exactly how the building’s 2007 condo declaration described a 40th-floor penthouse—the unit Mr. Diamond purchased for $37 million in 2009 under two limited liability companies, Novgorod and Novgorod Two.

Mr. Diamond, 65, stepped down as the chief executive of Barclays PLC in 2012 after the British financial giant was found entangled in an interest-rate manipulation scandal.

The U.S.-born financier also faced criticism in the U.K. for his colossal pay package. He was paid £20.9 (about US$27 million) million in 2011 heading Barclays, according to media reports.

The Robert A.M. Stern–designed luxury condominium, 15 Central Park West, was built in 2007 and is home to many Wall Street financiers and celebrities, including Goldman Sachs’ CEO Lloyd Blankfein, actor Denzel Washington and rocker Sting, who listed his penthouse for $56 million earlier this month.

Mr. Diamond did not immediately respond to an email request for comment sent to his new venture, Atlas Mara.
