Italian soccer player Antonio Nocerino has a new goal: Selling his Tribeca condo, which he’s listed for $2.3 million, he told Mansion Global.

Mr. Nocerino, 32, a midfielder who is currently without a team, bought the apartment on Leonard Street for $1.87 million in 2014 as a rental investment while playing with the Italian football club Torino. His condo will hit the market in the next week with Johnny Mansilla of the Mansilla Team at Nest Seekers International.

He said he considered investing in London (he played briefly on loan for West Ham United Football Club in 2014), but settled on New York instead.

"For me, New York is the best for investment. New York is incredible," Mr. Nocerino said.

Market data suggests he made a good call. His two-bedroom, two-bathroom condo is in one of the fastest appreciating neighborhoods in New York.

Tribeca ranked as the priciest neighborhood in New York City, with a median home price of $4.683 million and prices soaring 12% year-over-year in 2017, according to data from PropertyShark.

Tribeca felt to Mr. Nocerino like a modern, youthful neighborhood with a spattering of celebrity buyers when he decided on The Leonard, a 66-unit development, four years ago, he said.

"The area was more important than the apartment," he said.

The pre-war building has a gym and roof deck, and the condos are designed with in-unit washer/dryers, eat-in kitchens and ceilings ranging from 10-and-a-half to 18 feet.

Mr. Nocerino announced last year he would not renew his contract with Orlando City SC after playing for the Florida team for two years. He has a home in Orlando and a home in Italy in addition to the New York investment.

He said he’d like to buy again in New York if it makes sense for him and his family, he said.

"I live for my kids," he said of his son and daughter. "If I have the opportunity to invest in a house I like in a good area, I would make a New York investment."
