The top-floor penthouse of The Kent, an amenity-rich and family-friendly new building on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, hit the market Monday for $19.5 million.

With 5,188 square feet of interior space as well as a 1,466-square-foot wrap-around terrace with 360-degree city views, the five-bedroom, five-and-a-half bathroom Penthouse C is the largest and grandest of the 83 condominiums in the 30-story, Art Deco-inspired building at 200 East 95th St., said J.P. Forbes, director of sales at The Kent. It is the first of three penthouse apartments in the building to hit the market, and has a "living room the size of a ballroom," Mr. Forbes said.

"What’s important about this penthouse is the combination of the terrace space and the views" of the East River, Manhattan skyline and close-at-hand Central Park, he said.

"And what I love about this terrace is its placement," Mr. Forbes said. "It becomes an extension of the living/dining room and the views to the south are spectacular." he said.

Construction on the building, at the corner of East 95th Street and Third Avenue, has topped off and the windows are in place, he said. They hope to start closings on the lower floors in December, and this penthouse should be ready for occupancy in the second quarter of next year.

"It’s built for the neighborhood," Mr. Forbes said, about The Kent. "People raise their families here. All of the top private and public schools are in the neighborhood."

The building is designed for families, as there are no studios or one-bedroom apartments. "Of the 83 units, 12 are two-bedrooms," Mr. Kent said. "We primarily have three-, four- and five-bedrooms."

The building was designed by architects Beyer Blinder Belle, and Extell Development Co. is the builder. The Kent’s interiors are by Alexandra Champalimaud, known for her design work on high-end hotels in the city, and residents will be able to choose from three different finishes for their apartments: Ivory, Opal and Onyx.

Prices for the two-bedroom units start around $2.7 million, with the three-bedrooms starting around $3.7 million.

The layouts have been designed for how modern families live, with moreroom in the kitchens andliving spaces, while maintaining the expected staples ofUpper East Side living—gracious entry foyers, formalliving anddining rooms and lots of light. The master bedroom suite features two walk-in closets.
