Ex-Foxtel CEO Sells Mosman Mansion for at Least A$23 Million

The house has 180-degree views of Sydney’s famous harbor

Richard Freudenstein, who led Foxtel from 2011 to 2016, sold his mansion in the Sydney suburb of Mosman for an undisclosed price between A$23 million and A$25 million (US $17.8 million to $19.4 million), according to real estate brokerage Ray White.

The house, which has seven bedrooms, six full bathrooms and three half bathrooms, does not have private waterfront access, but it does have extensive views of Sydney’s iconic harbor.

At 1,650 square meters (17,760 square feet) in size, the house has a wraparound balcony, a home theater and a master suite containing a terrace, dressing room and private lounge.

The home is also equipped with a temperature-controlled wine cellar, gas fireplaces, central air conditioning and underfloor heating, accordingto the listing.

Although the house is designed to have an open plan, it still has traditional spaces for entertaining, such as formal dining and living rooms.

The property also has plenty of amenities for the athletically inclined. It has an outdoor tennis court, basketball court, air-conditioned gym and a saltwater swimming pool heated for year-round use.

There is also an eight-car showroom garage, with extra storage areas and a car wash bay.

Although the identity of the buyer was not disclosed, Alex Tilbury, media manager at Ray White, said in an email that the individual is a Sydney local.

Mr. Freudenstein, his wife, Jane, and their three daughters have lived at the house on Burran Avenue for 12 years.

After leaving Foxtel in 2016, Mr. Freudenstein maintained his position as a non-executive director of REA Group Ltd., a digital advertising group specializing in real estate that’s owned by News Corp., the parent company of Mansion Global. He was first appointed to the board in 2006.

Mr. Freudenstein, 52, who couldn’t immediately be reached for comment, has had an extensive career in media in Australia and the United Kingdom. Prior to serving as CEO of Foxtel, a media company partly owned by News Corp, he was the CEO of News Digital Media and The Australian newspaper, also News Corp entities. Before that, he was the chief operating officer of British Sky Broadcasting.
