Ian Bruce Eichner, a real estate developer behind the Flatiron District’s tallest tower, listed his penthouse apartment on Monday in Manhattan’s West Village for $25 million, according to a source with knowledge of the sale.

Mr. Eichner, 72, paid $7.7 million for the 5,725-square-foot condo in 2010, city records show. He bought it from Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, the former child actresses-turned-fashion-designers who are known collectively as the Olsen twins.

City records show the sisters bought the unit in 2004—the year of the building’s completion—for $7.3 million. But reports suggest they never actually lived there.

The five-bedroom penthouse has a private elevator landing, a wood-burning fireplace with an imported French mantel, a sculptural glass wine refrigerator that holds up to 1,000 bottles, an eat-in kitchen and Hudson River views, according to the listing with Douglas Elliman’s Fredrik Eklund and John Gomes, who declined to comment.

Monthly charges for the apartment run to more than $16,000.

The 142-unit building on Morton Street, close to the river, was designed by Costas Kondylis & Partners. Amenities include a doorman, a fitness center, a children’s playroom and an on-site-attended parking garage.

Mr. Eichner, who could not be reached for comment, is the developer behind Madison Square Park Tower, the glitzy new building at 45 East 22nd St. towering over the Flatiron District. At 777-feet tall, the building is the tallest between Midtown and the Financial District, according to reports.
