The stars at night are big and bright at the Crespi Estate, a $38.5 million mansion in north Dallas—the city’s most expensive property currently on the market.

The 27,092-square-foot Crespi Estate, named after its first owner, Count Pio Crespi, an Italian entrepreneur who had been sent to Dallas by his Italian family to establish trade for their cotton empire, last sold in late 2017 to real estate developer Mehrdad Moayedi for $36.2 million.

Mr. Moayedi bought the home from billionaire banker Andy Beal via live auction by Concierge Auctions. The home, which was acquired by Tom Hicks in 1997, the former owner of Liverpool Football Club, the Texas Rangers, and the Dallas Stars, listed for $100 million in 2015, suggesting that the $36.2 million auction price to Mr. Moayedi was a bargain.

Allie Beth Allman and Associates, an affiliate of Berkshire Hathaway, listed the property. Ms. Allman didn’t provide further comment on the home, which was listed Thursday.

The property has Venetian plastered walls in its front corridor, antique French wooden floors in the breakfast room, a custom fireplace in the dining room, and a library featuring 1820s French paneling.

The mansion has open patios, gardens, and greenhouses in the exterior, and a spacious 10 bedrooms and 12 baths inside. The property was built in 1938, but renovated this year.

Mr. Moayedi, who only owned the property for eight months, was unavailable for immediate comment. He is the CEO of Centurion American, a real estate development company.

The Dallas Morning News first reported the listing.
