A Chelsea mansion, situated on a Manhattan block lined with continuous Greek Revival-style townhouses just steps away from the trendy High Line park, has hit the market with an asking price of $19.75 million.

Dubbed the "Celebrity Mansion," the townhouse has been home to a roster of stars, including Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Olivier Sarkozy, Courtney Love, Jason Statham, Glenn Close and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, according to marketing information provided by real estate brokerage Cushman & Wakefield. The stars generally rented units in the townhouse for short terms.

The 9,054-square-foot building, which went on the market in early December, spans five-and-a-half stories and is currently configured as five apartments, with 10 bedrooms and 10 bathrooms altogether. The buyer has an opportunity to convert the property to a single-family residence.

The interior features wide-plank oak floors, wood-burning fireplaces, views of gardens and terraces, as well as elevator accesses. Outdoors, the property has two balconies, a patio and a roof deck.

"Aside from the luxurious finishes, this 9,000-square-foot home will be an incredible investment given its size and prime location," said Robert Burton from Cushman & Wakefield, who is listing the townhouse with Keegan Mehlhorn and Brock Emmetsberger from the same firm.

The current owner bought the townhouse in 2008, according to Mr. Mehlhorn, who declined to disclose the owner’s identity and the purchase price.

According to property records, it was bought under an LLC. Previous reports showed that actress Frances Garr sold the house to developers Michael Bolla and Michael Daniel for over $6 million in 2008.

According to real estate portal StreetEasy, the property has come on and off the market over the past few years, asking prices ranging from $18.95 million to $21 million.

Representatives for the celebrity renters of the property didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment.
