A 130-year-old townhouse in Brooklyn’s affluent Park Slope neighborhood that once held the distinction of being the most expensive house in the borough entered contract Tuesday, listing records show.
Dubbed Remington House, the 32-foot-wide brownstone, located on Carroll Street, close to Prospect Park, first hit the market with a price tag of $15 million in March 2016, listing records show. The price was reduced to $12.75 million in September the same year, at which point it remained the priciest listing in Brooklyn, Mansion Global previously reported.

Its price was most recently reduced to a buyer-enticing $8.99 million in December.
The sellers bought the property in 2014 for $3.8 million, property records show, and reportedly embarked on a two-year renovation of the home. Currently configured as a quadruplex with a garden apartment for use as an in-law or au pair suite, the house has a total of eight bedrooms, four full bathrooms, four powder rooms, 13 wood-burning fireplaces, formal living and dining rooms, a library, storage and a laundry room, according to the listing with Fredrik Eklund, Raymond Dillulio, Lisa Interdonato and John Gomes of Douglas Elliman.

"We are thrilled for both seller and buyer," Mr. Eklund told Mansion Global in an email. Mr. Eklund did not comment on the identity of the buyer.
The most expensive house in Brooklyn is currently an eight-bedroom house in Mill Basin that comes with an asking price of $18 million, according to listing records.
