A two-bedroom apartment in The Dakota, one of the most prestigious co-op buildings in Manhattan, is coming on the market for $3.88 million later this week, Mansion Global has learned.

The apartment offers a spectacular Central Park view from the living room, the den and the master bedroom. The master suite comes with a spa-like master bathroom with dual vanities and a spacious walk-in closet, according to the listing brokerage Dolly Lenz Real Estate.

The fully renovated residence features a kitchen with stone countertops and state-of-the-art appliances and high-ceilings throughout.

"It’s really a jewel, a rare opportunity to own a home in the famed Dakota at this price point," said Ms. Dolly Lenz, founder and chief executive of the eponymous firm.

"Located in the eaves of The Dakota, the ceilings are very interesting and it boasts the Central Park view from the highest floor of the building," Ms. Lenz said. The residence is on the ninth floor of the landmarked building.

The Dakota, completed in 1884 at 72nd Street and Central Park West, was designed by Henry J. Hardenbergh, who also designed The Plaza Hotel. The Renaissance-style building has many famous former and current residents, including John Lennon, who was murdered outside the building in 1980.

The apartment is owned by Bettye R. Fletcher, mother of former hedge fund manager Alphonse "Buddy" Fletcher, who had owned a few apartments in the Dakota since 1992 and had previously served as the co-op’s president.

Ms. Fletcher is planning to move out the city, according to Ms. Lenz.
