An estate in Vancouver is selling for C$36.2 million (US$28.1 million), making it the most expensive home listed in North Vancouver, public MLS records show.

Situated next to the sweeping North Shore mountains and within 20 minutes of Downtown Vancouver, the 14-acre property features a custom-built, 9,000-square-foot main residence, a guest house, a working 12-stall paddock/barn and a greenhouse.

The property is the highest-priced listing in the history of the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver's Multiple Listing Service for North Vancouver, according to Sotheby’s International Realty Canada.

But the unsold C$63 million (US$48 million) home of the prominent philanthropists Joseph and Rosalie Segal has the record asking price in all of Metro Vancouver. The couple listed the waterfront mansion privately with Sotheby’s this June, according to Bloomberg.

Now is the first time that the 14 acre-plus North Vancouver property comprised of three separate lots is being offered as one parcel, according to listing agent Steve Mitchell at Sotheby’s International Realty Canada.

"This North Vancouver estate provides an opportunity to own the most significant, private parcel of land in one of the most robust real estate markets in Greater Vancouver," Mr. Mitchell said.

The current owner of the property is a local businessman, and he and his wife bought it 40 years ago, according to Mr. Mitchell. Now, the couple is selling the estate so they can move on to the next stage of their lives with fewer properties.

The estate was listed a week ago.

"There has been some interest from a few potential buyers, some local, some foreign," Mr. Mitchell said. "However, we anticipate the purchaser will be local and will use the home as a primary residence."

A blend of West Coast architecture with Japanese influences, the two-floor main residence features four bedrooms, five bathrooms, six fireplaces, a gym, expansive patios and a large kitchen, according to the listing.

The estate also comes with a guest house, two double garages, a double carport, and a greenhouse sitting on the maturely planted grounds, with natural and manmade water features.
