A Beverly Hills, California, mansion that was the longtime home to late actress Ann Rutherford, best known for her role as Carreen O'Hara in the movie "Gone With the Wind," has hit the market for $39.9 million.

Dubbed The Rutherford House, the mansion was built in 1938 for Beverly Hills mayor and real estate developer Edward Paul Dentzel. It later became home to Rutherford and her second husband William Dozier, creator of the 1960s "Batman" TV series.

During their decades of ownership, the celebrity couple hosted numerous weddings on the property, including those of Jack Jones, Jill St. John, Tammy Grimes and Jeremy Slate, according to published reports.

The actress died at this home, located on Greenway Drive, in 2012. Her estate sold the property in 2013 for $7.55 million to a trust linked to mortgage guru Mark Cohen and his wife, Laurie.

The Cohens, who didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment, expanded the French Revival-style house, adding new entertaining rooms, family spaces, a master suite, a pool house with gym and spa and staff quarters, according to Richard Manion Architecture, the firm commissioned for the remodeling.

The mansion has more than 10,000 square feet of living space, including five bedrooms and 10 bathrooms, formal dining and living rooms, a bar, a library and a billiards room.

The home is adorned with a collection of 1920s and 1930s fixtures from notable European/Parisian decorative artists, wood and steel casement windows throughout, a morning room with 200-year-old Chinese wallpaper, according to the listing posted last month.

Kurt Rappaport of Westside Estate Agency and Linda May, Drew Fenton of Hilton & Hyland are the co-listing agents. They didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment.

Variety first reported the listing.
