Renowned architect Cesar Pelli has sold his Manhattan home at the exclusive San Remo building for $24 million to members of the philanthropic billionaire Tisch family, according to property records.
Mr. Pelli, 91, closed on his five-bedroom apartment at the iconic cooperative designed by Emery Roth on Central Park West at the end of May, according to paperwork filed with the city last week.

The expansive home has grand, oversized living spaces designed by Mr. Pelli, an award-winning architect, and his late wife and firm partner, landscape architect Diana Balmori.
The Argentine-American architect is the founder of firm Pelli Clarke Pelli, which has designed Salesforce Tower, the tallest skyscraper in San Francisco; the shiny, glass building housing Bloomberg’s headquarters in New York City; and Kuala Lumpur’s iconic supertall twin Petronas Towers.
His unit at the San Remo, a building that has been home to notable residents from Steve Jobs to Steven Spielberg spans around 5,000 square feet of space, with light oak herringbone floors and a dramatic gallery lined in oak built-ins, according to the listing with Abigail Agranat and Andrew Darwin of Douglas Elliman. They did not immediately return request for comment.
The main living room has a contemporary carrara marble fireplace and a large butler's pantry sits off of the kitchen, according to a floor plan. From the building’s fifth floor, it over looks the trees of Central Park.
Mr. Pelli, who could not be reached for comment, sold the home to New York City philanthropist and art collector Laurie Tisch, a partial owner of the New York Giants and whose late father founded the Loews Corp.
Ms. Tisch purchased the unit through a trust named after her daughter, Carolyn Sussman. It’s not clear from records whether Ms. Tisch, whose avid giving targets arts education, will be moving across the park from her home on the Upper East Side, or whether Mr. Pelli’s aerie was purchased for her daughter.

Ms. Tisch could not immediately be reached for comment.
Mr. Pelli bought the San Remo apartment for $17.5 million in 2015, a year before his wife passed away, according to property records. He put it back up for sale last year for $26 million.
