Location: Stellenbosch, Western Cape, South Africa

Price: R85 million (US $6 million)

With views of the mountains and both the Atlantic and Indian oceans, plus a boutique winery, Delavia Estate is a true "lifestyle estate."

"It’s a place you can come and relax and drink your own wine," said agent Clarence Collins of Pam Golding Properties.

And it doesn’t hurt that the home is "stunning," he added. Located in the "Golden Triangle of Stellenbosch Winelands," an area known for its grapes, the home is an ideal spot to wine and dine a few friends—or a few dozen.

In fact, "50 people can fit in the living room," Mr. Collins said. The open living space inside is adjacent to several large patios, each of which "gives you a different view, either toward the mountains or the vineyards."

Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon vines dating back to 2001 are grown on the grounds, according to the listing. Guests and residents can also enjoy the fruits of those vineyards in the home’s temperature-controlled bar and tasting room.

Also on the main floor is the wood-clad office, with beamed ceilings and lined with built-in bookshelves, according to the listing, plus an open kitchen, breakfast area and formal dining room, plus a guest suite.

The master suite, lounge and an additional three en-suite bedrooms are upstairs, where there are also several balconies.

Stats

This five-bedroom home, with seven bathrooms, is 26,910 square feet and sits on almost 25 acres.

Amenities

Of course, the home also has a wine cellar on the lower level. But there’s also another tasting area there, as well as a snooker corner (snooker is a game like billiards), television lounge, gym and a walk-in safe.

There’s room for seven cars in the home’s garage, with additional space for boats, the listing said. The estate is equipped with solar power, radiant-floor heating and a water filtration system.

Outside, there’s a heated pool and landscaped gardens, plus several acres of vineyards on an automated drip-irrigation system. The property has irrigation rights from the Theewaterskloof Water Scheme and a small farm dam, according to the listing.

Design pedigree

Built in 2011, the space has been designed with an open layout that opens up onto the outdoor spaces. The patios and large windows of the home were built to maximize views of the Indian and Atlantic oceans, Cape Point, Table Mountain and Robben Island.

The home was built seven years ago, according to Mr. Collins. The current owners also own the adjacent land, and intend to build a smaller cottage there now that their children have moved on.

Neighborhood notes

The estate is a peaceful retreat, but there are local golf courses and beaches within a short drive. Kogelberg Nature Reserve is also close by, as are several towns where provisions—other than wine—are available.
