Location: Georgetown, Grand Cayman Price: $10.5 million

This luxurious beachfront apartment, on the top floor of the seven-story North Tower at the Ritz-Carlton Residences in Grand Cayman, stands on a glorious stretch of sand known as Seven Mile Beach.

"The views are amazing," said listing agent Heidi Kiss. "This is one of two penthouses that are direct oceanfront."

"The tallest building on Grand Cayman is 10 stories, so you really have great long-range views from the penthouse," she said. "A 1,500-square-foot balcony wraps around the whole unit."

There are 93 condominiums in the resort, which was built in 2006 and also has hotel units, she said.

"This is one of the most expensive homes for sale in Grand Cayman right now," Ms. Kiss said.

And Grand Cayman is one of the safest islands in the Caribbean, she added. It is also known as the culinary capital of the Caribbean, she said, because it has nearly 250 restaurants.

Plus, the weather is hard to beat. "It’s always hot and sunny," she said. "We have maybe 30 or 40 days of rain a year."

Neighborhood Notes

Seven Mile Beach is a long crescent of sandy beach on the western end of Grand Cayman island that is home to the majority of the island's luxury resorts and hotels.

Like all of the Cayman beaches, it is public property, and you can walk the full length of the beach regardless of where you are staying. Restaurants open to the public can be found at most of the resorts, and there are several public beach bars.

Some small reefs that offer good snorkeling are located just offshore.

Despite the name, the stretch of beach is actually only about 5.5 miles long, Ms. Kiss said.
