Amy Schumer Reportedly Snaps Up $12 Million Upper West Side Duplex

The Manhattan penthouse features three-sided glass walls and a wrap-around terrace

Amy Schumer is, without question, living her best life. The comedian secured herself a spot on the A list after 2015’s "Trainwreck," negotiated a seven-figure book deal, and scored not one, not two but four Emmy Award nominations this year. So, it's not terribly surprising that the 35-year-old is making some big upgrades in her personal life, particularly in the form of Manhattan real estate.

Following reports earlier this month that the multi-hyphenate was eyeing a classical $15 million Beaux-Arts mansion on the Upper West Side, sources recently told The Real Deal that Schumer opted for something more modern: A $12.15 million light-filled duplex penthouse atop 190 Riverside Drive, a landmarked 11-story residential building.

The unique apartment—originally commissioned by a private developer, according to Spivack Architects, which designed the unit—includes five bedrooms, five baths, and a living space enveloped by three-sided glass walls that open and extend out to a wrap-around terrace with Hudson River views. It also has private elevator entry.

Located at West 91st St., the penthouse would be a far cry from Ms. Schumer’s previous New York City pad, located at 129 West 80th St., a walkup building. With one bedroom and one-and-a-half-baths, the penthouse co-op is fairly restrained by celebrity standards. It's also, evidently, hard to sell: The apartment has been on the market for nine months and got a $450,000 price chop in September. After initially being listed at just over $2 million, it’s now asking $1.695 million, nearly the exact price Schumer paid in 2014, according to property records.

Brown Harris Stevens listing agents Lisa Lippman and Scott Moore declined to comment for the story. A rep for Ms. Schumer didn’t immediately reply to requests for comment.
